Epitalon (also known as Epithalone) is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) derived from Epithalamin — a naturally occurring polypeptide extract from the pineal gland. It was developed by the Russian scientist Professor Vladimir Khavinson, who has published extensively on its anti-aging properties.
Among the most remarkable research findings on Epitalon is its apparent ability to activate telomerase — the enzyme that maintains the length of telomeres (the protective caps on chromosomes that shorten with each cell division). Telomere length is considered one of the key biomarkers of cellular aging.
